Glyn Moody gives some insights into
MS patent FUD. Compared with proprietary software, Open Source by its nature is free of patent issues, but Microsoft is attempting to muddy the waters, insinuating that there are patent troubles. The truth is, if there ever *are* patent issues, Open Source will rip out and replace the problematic code with new, better, freer code before you can blink. This is what has always happened whenever code turned up with patent problems. This is what brought us PNG, OGG, ODF, and more.
